Portfolio Day

Objective: To start a class Portfolio. (I will be happy if you picked a template, saved it, and put your name on the home page).

Entrance Task: In Journal, go through your experimental procedure. What were some sources of error in your measurement or in the procedures that may impact your results?

Question: How close are my experimental values to ideal values?

Hypothesis: The % shows that I was able to experimentally get close to the ideal value (i.e., steel bolt is the same density as steel bar).

1. Create a Physical Science Portfolio (due at end of year/continually update)

A student portfolio is a collection of a student's work, both in and out of the classroom, and it enables you to monitor students' progress and achievement over time.

  • Create Account on Wix.com

  • Choose a template.

  • Create these pages: About Me, Unit 1, Unit 2, Unit 3, Unit 4, Unit 5, Unit 6, Unit 7

  • The About Me page should include graduation year, work experience, attitude of school and learning, plans for the future, attitude toward science, your favorite things, and photos of you from this year in my class.

  • Each page should house the following information.

  • Unit Objectives

  • a rating of Unsatisfactory, Basic, Proficient, or Distinguished for each objective

  • links or photos of work/evidence that demonstrates your rating.

  • For example, if you want to show proficiency in dimensional analysis, take a picture of your Conversions worksheet and display it.

  • Evidence includes: photos of labs or work, links to docs/sheets/reports, reflections, photos of notebook, test scores, etc.

  • Choose your best work!!!!!
